Two very different days in this weeknd one hardly any wind to race and the next too much to race. However on the not very windy day the UKWA managed to squeeze in 4 races. Unfortunately for me light winds is not my prefered conditions but tried to make the best of it. The last race had even less wind than the others and in places Weymouth Harbour looked like a millpond. Luckily the wind picked up a bit on the 2nd lap unfortunately by that point I wasn't doing very well. By the end of the event I didn't do very well and ended up finishing 2nd 6.8girl. That doesnt sound too bad but my overall place was 27th out of 38 which I didn't think was very good. Overall I wasn't too happy and tried to put that event behing me and look forward and train hard over the winter for next season.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS-WEYMOUTH

WIt was my first world championships and I didnt know where I'd fit into it all. I know how I am against the other biritish girls but I didnt know if I'd be 22nd or where I came which was 4th!!After the first couple of days I was 3rd and 1st brit. But unfortunately after the remaining days being windy and not even racing on due day due to to much wind it saw the stronger birtish girls above me and also italian Marta Megetti. finished 4th, in 1st was brit Saskia Sills, 2nd Imogen (imi) Sills(brit) , 3rd Marta Megetti and jus below me and 5th (4th brit) Noelle Finch. I was really pleased with my result and it was a fantastic event and even better that my first worlds were at Weymouth. UNfortunately I cant go to the euros in Cadiz because of flight costs etc. but I will be goin to france for the worlds next year and will be lookin for 1st!!

T-15 Coverham

Lots of good wind which is good for me. It was the last t-15 of the year and it was looking good for our team North Lincs Invaders. Just before the first race I had a kit failure. I was pumping and my outhaul cleet slipd to the end of my boom while I was pumping so I had to go in and get it fixed. By the time I had got it fixed and made my way to the start boat everyone had set off so I pumped after them. By the time we had got to the 2nd bouy I had gone from last to 3rd!!. Overall I was 2nd, Robert York from Covernham Cyclones was 3rd and team mate Max Bushell was 1st.At the end of the event when all the teams scores were anounced. WE were 1st not only did w win that event but we had won the series. Max Bushell went up to collest the trophy (as hewas captain for that event) he also had to make a speech. Then the senior boy and girl went up for the series (me and Max) luckily head coach Simon Seal went up for that.

Eric Twiname 9th+10th May

After a busy winter the zone training had nearly come to an end and it was the yearly Eric Twiname. I wasn't as nervous a i was last year because it was my first time but i still wanted to do well! On the first day there was lots of wind (good for me) so i hoped i would get some good races.

By the end of the first day I was first 6.8 girl and 1st overall!! but only by 1 point because team mate Max Bushell was hot on my heels. Lukily for me there was no racing on Sunday otherwise Max might have taken the lead.So there was an early prize giving meaning i was 1st 6.8 girl and better still I had beaten all the boys and come 1st overall aswell!! My younger sister came 1st 4.5 girl and 2nd overall which is alot better than i did when i was only 10 years old !!!!!!!

T-15 Campions Cup 2008

Day 1

The first day was really windy. It started of as not much but it soon picked up. I did the first race of that day but on the second race the wind picked up so that I was overpowered on my 5.5m. I canged down to a 4.5m but the wind picked up even more so that I couldn't get out to the course.

Day 2

The wind wasn't as strong as the first day so I was able to complete all of the races. Meaning that I could discard both of the races that I didn't complete. I got 2nd Techno 5.5m but 3rd overall. Other ace perfrmances came from Sarah Labourne, max Bushell (who was 1 point off coming 3rd), Ruben Lansley, Lewis May, Harry Davis and Max Buttler. It was North Lincs first time at the Champions cup in years and we pushed ourselves to the limit to get 2nd place overall out of 9 T-15 clubs.

NORTH ZONE CAMPIONSHIPS 2008!!

Scaling Dam SC

Day 1

Good wind.Most of the time around 15 knots. We had a good turn out from North Lincs with Me,Max Bushell, Ruben Lansley, My sister Sarah and Lewis May!!

Day 2

We had to wait all morning for any wind at all then a breeze picked up over lunch and we all went out to do some good racing!We did 2 or 3 races. It was really close in the 5.5m fleet between me Mark Reynolds and Robert Griffiths. In the end I won with only 1 point between me and Mark Reynolds but at the end of the day I won!!!!!Robet Griffiths got 3rd and Ruben Lansley got 1st 4.5m.

I went windsurfing at North Lincs and had a go
with my brand new JP Freestyle/Wave 95 litre shortboard !!! Max Bushell and Lewis May were there as well.When I was leaving Luke Raistrick came down to have a go.
It wasn't that windy but decided to go shortboarding anyway.
I also had abit of a go on my Techno as well.

National Championships

The National Championships was a fantastic event.Everyone from North Lincs that went got a cup or a trophy! And there was enough wind to race and some people even managed to get planning at times as well.

Day 1

There was absolutely no wind! All the coaches were trying to keep us well hydrated and entertained wich wasn't easy in the heat. in the evening there were bouncey castles and slides but best of all there was the Human Table Football. After a brilliant tournament we won!

Day 2

Finally we got some races in. I thought it was really usefull to have stickers on

our sails showing us the course.It was a big event with 330 sailors.In the 4.5m fleet I came 1st,coming 2nd was Robert York and 3rd was Dani Conroy.In 1st place in the 5.5m fleet was Ross Bromhead, getting 2nd place was Joe Dickinson and 3rd was Jack Bailey. In the 6.8m fleet in 1st place was Laurel Townsend,2nd was Imogen Sills and 3rd was Nat Warren.In the 7.8m fleet in 1st place was Josh Leadbetter, in 2nd was Sam Jenkins and in 3rd place was Charlie Money.The picture below is of the North Zone (thewinning zone overall) winning their award!

UKWA Carsinton Water

At Carsington Water on the 19th and 20th of April 2008 there was a UKWA event.

The 1st Day

The T15ers were there so 5.5m and under had to race with them in the shadow of the island.The course was tiny!But I was coming 1st.The race officers had put the up wind buoy in the middle of the wind shadow.So when we were near the upwind buoy we went nowhere but when we came to the downwind buoy we got planning.

The 2nd day

On the second day the wind was just as wild and everyone was out of the wind shadow and onto the bigger couse.We had 1 race per three quarters of an hour and nobody was warm.

Overall it was a brilliant event.

I came !st 4.5m, Max came 2nd 5.5m and George came 2nd 7.8m.

Me at Notts County SC

I went down to Notts County Sailing Club for a demo day.
There were so many boards to choose from
but I chose to have a go on a Starboard
Kombat 96 and 105. It was really windy so I had to move down to a 3.5m sail.
There was a buoy and when I got past that buoy the wind really hit me.
I did about 5 jumps but millions of wipeouts! Emily Hall was there was there and we had great fun.

The BBC T.V person came to North Lincs Sailing Club. Filming us lot windsurfing. It was so cool (sarah, Max, Me, Jordan,Isaac,Robert and Aron got an afternoon off school). It wasn't that windy but at the end Me snd Max got plainning.

At the open day I went on my 5.5m. My friend Hannah came down and I tought her the basics.

In the morning when I got there, there was no wind but amazingly it picked up and I got planning and did some carve gybes.

West Kirby Zone Squad training

This is me at West Kirby for Zone Squad training on 19th & 20th January 2008.
The water was so flat! My group did switch stance gybes and Ian's group wre trying to master 720s. At one point on that weekend there was no wind whatsoever!

North Lincs Zone Squad Training

On December 2nd we had Zone Squad Training at North Lincs.

It was really windy but everyone managed. Our group was near the reeds and some people had to be rescued.Overall it was an enjoyable weekend I hope we do the same next year!
